If and when you need to close a store location, it is important to know what to do with your inventory, accounts receivable, and customer records. Below are some steps to follow when moving inventory from one store location to another.

Inventory
Unserialized Items - Closing a store location with unserialized or bulk items requires you to transfer the equipment from one store location to another if you are multistore.
Serialized Items - Closing a store location with serialized items requires you to transfer equipment from one store location to another if you are multistore.
Transfer Unserialized Items (Multistore)
1. First, go to the store that you are wanting to transfer the items from.
2. Then go to the inventory item and select the Stock Tab.
3. Then click on Transfer Inventory.
A new window will appear where you can choose the location you are transferring to, a PO# if applicable, and the item quantity.
Transfer Serialized Inventory Items
1. First, go to the store that you are wanting to transfer items from.
2. Then go to the inventory item and select the Stock Tab.
3. Click on ⇄ next to the item that you are wanting to transfer.
A new window will appear where you can choose the location you are transferring to as well as look at the log for where that item was transferred to and from.
Export Inventory
Regardless if you are single or multistore, you will want to export your database out of your Essentials Program.
1. Go to Inventory > Inventory and click on Export All Items.
This will give you a CSV file of all your inventory.
Export Customer Database
If you are a single store or multistore and want to export your database out of your Essentials Program.
1. Go to People > Customers and click on Export All Customers.
This will give you a CSV file of all your customers.
Close Storefront
To prevent future rentals, you can close your store for multiple days.
1. To do that, go to Configuration > Company Details.
2. Under the Company Hours, add a date range, for example January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2030.
Note: you will have to do the date range one year at a time.
