Setting up custom questions for contracts (transactions)
Rental Essentials allows you to set up questions to display whenever you create a contract. These are useful if you need to ask for additional information from the customer.
1. From within Configuration > Configure Custom Questions, click + New Custom Questions.
2. From here, enter the question you want to ask when creating a transaction and the label you want to show on the contract and/or bill of lading.
3. Since this question will be displayed when creating a contract, make sure to select Transaction from the Question For dropdown.
Note: If you are utilizing the Ski Operator Feature in Essentials it will also show on the contract in the Skiers Line.
4. If you would like this to be a required question on the web store then check the relevant box. You can also indicate the order of the question in the Sort Order field.
5. Next select the Display Size. This is a required field.
6. Finally, select the Custom Question Type from the drop-down menu. You can choose from Free Text, Boolean, Single Choice Select, Multiple Choice Select, Date, Time, Numeric, and Phone Number.
7. Remember to click Save when you are done. You can create up to ten questions by repeating the steps above.
Editing the questions on a contract
The transaction custom questions will appear on the transaction overview screen next to Special Request. Just click the Edit icon to answer the question.
Finding custom questions on a contract
The customer will see these printed in the Additional Information section on their contract, located under their inventory items.
Setting up custom questions for customers
Now let us say your customer has a few contacts you can speak with regarding payment. We know it can be hard to keep up with them and it does not make sense to create each one as a customer. Rental Essentials allows you to create a few custom questions for customers to help solve this problem.
From within Configuration > Configure Custom Questions, click + New Custom Questions, and follow the steps above. This time, though, instead of selecting Transaction from the Question Type drop-down, select Customer.
Editing the questions on a customer's profile
This field will show up in the Edit Customer screen. Just enter the information in the fields and click Save.
This information will show on the transaction overview under the customer information but only if it is marked to print on the contract.
The customer will also see this information under their contact information on the contract. They will only see the information marked to be printed on the contract.
