What This Feature Does

Essentials now supports associating an e-sign document from the E-sign Document Bank with a specific inventory item as that item's required addendum. When a customer rents an item that has an addendum assigned (such as a truck, trailer, or aerial lift), the addendum is presented for e-signature as part of the standard eSign workflow — eliminating the need for a separate paper form.

How It Works

1. Open the E-sign Document Bank and confirm the addendum document you want to use has been uploaded and is available.
2. Navigate to the specific inventory item record (for example, a truck or aerial lift).
3. Associate the appropriate e-sign document with that item as its required terms/addendum document.
4. When a contract is created that includes the item, the item-specific addendum will be included in the eSign process alongside the standard contract documents.
5. The customer signs the addendum electronically — no separate paper addendum is required.

3. The addendum will be applied to all future eSigns with the contract

Common Issues and Edge Cases

• Document not appearing during eSigning: Confirm the e-sign document has been correctly associated with the inventory item record, not just uploaded to the Document Bank.
• Multiple items with addendums on one contract: If a contract includes more than one item that each have an addendum assigned, verify whether each addendum is presented separately during the eSign session.
• Existing contracts: This configuration applies to new contracts going forward. Contracts already created before the addendum was assigned to the item may not automatically include the addendum in their eSign workflow.
• Difference from Arbitrary e-Signature Documents: This feature is specifically for item-level addendums tied to a transaction. Arbitrary e-signature documents (non-transaction-tied) are configured and behave differently — do not confuse the two workflows.
