Quick Buttons
Point-of-Rental offers a quick and easy way for you to write a rental or resale contract. Quick Buttons were designed for the counter person who writes the same contract over an over each day. Propane, gloves, an aerator rental, or any high-volume sale or rental you may have. A Quick Button can be assigned to an actual customer, a Cash Sale customer, a rental item, or a resale item. The following steps will guide you through the setup.
1. Counter System Main Menu Screen
2. Quick Button at the top left corner of the screen
3. Select Quick Button Setup
4. Enter in the appropriate password to modify (defined in parameters). If you do not have the correct password level please see your supervisor or manager.
5. Choose the button your wish to create or modify. 1 through 10.
6. Enter a Button Name of your choosing. This is a short descriptive term so you and your employees know what the button is.
7. Enter a Description of your choosing. This is a more descriptive term for the button.
8. If this button is for a specific customer or the Cash Sale customer, then enter the Customer Key in this field. If this is not customer specific then leave it blank.
9. Then in the “Item 1” field either enter the item key or double click in the space and your inventory selection screen will come up.
10. Enter in the automated quantity that will be added to the contract. If you wish to leave it blank then you will be prompted to enter in a quantity when you select that quickbutton.
11. To create another button repeat from step #4.

Writing a Contract Using a Quick Button
Accessing your Quick Buttons is easy. From the Quick Button drop down menu at the top of the screen in the Counter System Menu you can choose the Button you would like or you can use the keyboard shortcut by pressing the CTRL + F1 for the first button or CTRL + F2 for the second button, etc. Your contract will automatically update with the information you applied to the Quick Button.
There are several ways you could customize quick buttons. You could focus it around the customer, the item, or the customer and the item.
1. The Customer: Let’s say you have a customer who comes in regularly. You can set up a Quick Button just for this one customer so when he walks through the door you already have a contract pulled up and ready to go.
2. The Item: This helps when you sell or rent the same thing all day every day. Typically, a resale item will use the Cash Sale customer and for a rental item you would leave the customer key blank so a customer must be selected.
3. The Customer and the Item: Let’s say you have a specific customer who comes in every single day or a couple times a week to get the same thing. You can create a Quick Button just for that customer and that item to speed up the process for you and your customer.
4. Select Quick Button from Counter Menu System, this will take you into the contract. The item will already be entered on line one of the contract.
If you are on an Elite system, the quick buttons are accessed from the Transactions left menu option.
