Shared Users in Elite
The Shared User feature allows multiple users to use a single terminal (counters and shops, for example) but maintains user security integrity by requiring credentials at critical points.

How does it work?
Shared users is a feature that allows employees to share a terminal. Elite will recognize the terminal as being shared and will put you into a session requiring you to identify yourself whenever you attempt to perform actions that require the app to know who you are. Please note that you should not be sharing a user ID. All shared users are marked inactive to prevent this. The shared user feature presents a general login without requiring users to enter their credentials. There are no credentials entered; you simply need to select 'Shared Sign In.'
How do you know if a terminal is set up?
You can tell if a terminal is Shared Sign In by the login changes to Shared Sign In.
Configure a terminal for Shared Sign-in
Search: This feature will search all titles and descriptions on the browser interface.
- In the Search Bar, click the down arrow and choose ‘Operator.’
- Once you click Operator, click in the search box and press Enter.
- This will bring you to all of the operators set up in your system.
- To edit an Employee (or Shared Operator), click on the Name to bring up the operator, then click on the Pencil icon.
- To add a New Employee (or Shared Operator), click the Add button.
Information Tab
- To create a new Shared Operator, check the Shared User box in the Information tab. Only the Operator Name is required when this box is checked.
- Click Save when done.
Security for Shared Operators
Select Configuration Gear (in the header) > System > Security - Edit application security.
Shared Operators can be found in the dropdown of users in the browser security feature in configurations. Setting security for a Shared Operator will control initial options for anyone who uses that terminal. Accessing options from a shared terminal will ask for user credentials when accessing a feature. A common practice is to allow options at the Shared Operator and then limit them at the Group and Employee level. This way a manager with permissions can see and use options at the terminal but an employee with fewer permissions will see the option, but their credentials will not allow them to proceed.
Configure the Terminal
- From Elite, go to your Left Menu > User Tools > Operator Information.
- Now click Print Setup.
- Then go to the Advanced Tab.
- Then click on Modify and type in your Operator Password, if needed.
- Under Shared User, click the drop-down box and the Shared User.
- Click OK, then click Cancel to close the window.
- Log out of your Elite software, type in a Login ID and Password, and click Sign In. The icon will change to Shared Sign In, and you will be logged in as the shared user that you created.
