Signature Capture Pad FAQs
1. Do I have to use the provided pen that came with the pad?
Yes. Take good care of the pens. If the pen is forced open, it will be virtually impossible to re-assemble without special factory tools. Doing so will crack the circuit board and the pen will be dead.
DO NOT TWIST THE PEN IN THE CENTER TO CHANGE INK.
To change the ink just pull gently on the pen tip and it shall slide out. Just slide the new pen tip into the same slot till it catches and does not fall out. When the pen tip is forced into the pen it has a chance to crack the circuit board. So please don’t bang the pen tip on a counter to get the ink to flow.
2. How can I test the pen to be sure that it is working?
Push the tip of the pen in gently to activate while holding next to an operating AM radio set to a low frequency (between 530 and 550 khz). If you hear a whining sound in the speaker, and if the pitch of the whine changes when the pen tip is pressed and released, then the pen is OK.
3. How do I replace my pen's batteries if they run out?
To replace pen batteries, rotate the rear pen cap one quarter turn counter-clockwise and remove. Remove the old batteries and replace with type #393, available at most drug stores and supermarkets. Replace the pen cap and lock into place with one quarter turn clockwise.
