eCommerce | Customer Portal Setup Part 2


 

Step 2: Initial registration for new Customer Portal accounts

 

Before allowing customers to register in the Portal, first make sure you have entered the following in their Customer record in POR (via File Maintenance -> Customer File):

 
  • Primary Phone Number 

    • Note: The phone number, which will be the customer's user name, must be unique in order for the customer to register in the portal.
       

  • Email Address
     

  • ZIP/Postal Code
     

  • Customer Web Portal enabled (under Accounts tab)
     

  • Customer must be an Account customer. ("Cash Only" customers will not be able to register/access the Portal)
     

  • Account Customers must have at least one contract or quote. (Customers with no history will not be able to register/access the Portal)

 

Once the above information has been entered in your POR Customer record, either manually run Update Website or wait for your nightly auto-update before registering the customer in the Portal.

 

Now you are ready for the customer to register in the Portal!

 

As part of the initial registration process, your customer will first need to:
 

  • Enter their business phone # (without any dashes/parentheses, e.g. 5551234567) for both Username and Password fields on the login screen at http://***YourWebsiteURL***/portal
     

  • For security reasons, they will be asked to enter their email address and ZIP code as recorded in the customer record and a new password.

    • If the entered email address or ZIP code do NOT match, they will get an error message and need to contact you for help.

    • Otherwise, a confirmation message will be displayed on the screen and they can now log in with their phone # and new password.
