BI CVW Customers – Documentation

 

Purpose

This view provides a comprehensive profile of each customer, combining personal details, account activity, financial information, restrictions, discounts, and sales representative assignments. It is designed to support customer management, credit review, marketing, and sales follow-up. It can also be used to join to another view to add more customer information.

                            

What It Contains

The view organizes customer information into key areas:

1. Customer Identity & Contact

  • Customer Number (CNUM), Key, Name, Address, City, Zip – basic identifiers.

  • Phone, Work Phone, Mobile, Fax, Email – communication details.

  • Driver’s License, DL Expiration, Birthdate – personal verification info.

  • Employer, Auto License, Auto State – additional background.

2. Account Status & Restrictions

  • Status Description – payment method allowed (Cash, Cash Only, Any Method).

  • Restriction Description – rules such as “No Checks,” “Sale Only,” “Undesirable,” or overdue allowances.

  • Customer Status (CustStatus) – categorization of active, inactive, or other business-defined statuses.

3. Financials & Credit

  • Credit Limit, Current Balance, High Balance – measures of account exposure.

  • Payments (YTD, LTD, Last Year) – customer payment history.

  • Last Payment Date & Amount – most recent activity.

  • Days to Pay – average number of days customers take to pay completed transactions.

  • Discounts – rental and sales discount percentages plus descriptions.

4. Sales & Relationship Management

  • Assigned Sales Rep (Name, Email, Phone, Inactive status) – primary point of contact.

  • Heard About Us (HeardName) – how the customer learned about the business.

  • Number of Contracts, Qty Out – customer’s rental/sales activity volume.

5. Billing & Compliance

  • Billing Contact, Phone, Address, City, Zip – invoicing information.

  • Tax ID, Tax Exempt Number/Expiration – tax compliance details.

  • Insurance Number & Expiration Date – proof of insurance tracking.

  • Terms & Finance Charge Days – contractual payment terms.

                    

Business Uses

  • Customer Service: Quickly see a customer’s contact info, balance, restrictions, and history when they call or visit.

  • Credit & Collections: Review credit limits, overdue behavior, restrictions, and Days to Pay to make informed decisions.

  • Marketing: Use “Heard About Us” and payment history to segment customers for promotions.
