Drawer Count
The drawer count compares the physical cash in your cash drawer to the amount the system expects for the End of Day process. You can complete a drawer count at the End of the Day or at any time during the day if you need to reconcile early.
Counting the drawer early enables the system to be set up for automatic closing. For instance, if the manager counts the drawer at 5 PM and leaves, the auto-close task can run later that night. This way, no one has to wait for the End of Day processes to complete.

What a Drawer Count Does
The drawer count is the reconciliation of what is in the cash drawer versus what the system thinks is in the cash drawer. It helps you identify any over/under amounts so your End of the Day process and reports are accurate.
A drawer count can be performed at any time or for the End of Day process. For more information on counting the drawer for the End of Day process, see our article Close Drawer for End of Day
Run a Drawer Count Anytime During the Day
| ℹ️ This feature is available for Elite versions 2025.17 and above. |
-
Go to End of Day in the left menu.
-
Select Deposit Slip.
-
In the top-left corner of the Deposit Slip screen, click Count Drawer to open the drawer count window.
-
Enter the values from the cash drawer into the drawer count window.
-
If needed, use this mid-day drawer count to support Auto Close later. For example, a manager can count the drawer at 5:00 p.m. and leave, allowing the auto close task to run later that night so no one has to wait for the End of the Day process to complete. For more information on Auto Close see the article Auto-Close Drawer.
How Drawer Counts Affect End of Day
-
Whichever method you use (End of the Day prompt or mid-day Count Drawer), the over/unders from the count(s) are used in the End of the Day process.
-
These over/under amounts are written to the Totals Summary report.
Important Notes
Note 1: A mid-day drawer count does not replace the End of Day process. You still complete the End of the Day process when closing out the day.
Note 2: Make sure the physical cash in the drawer matches what you enter in the drawer count window before you continue with the End of the Day process.
