QuickBooks Online Refresh Token Instructions

ℹ️ To use this feature, you must have an active QuickBooks Online account.  

 

This article explains how Elite users can generate and update a QuickBooks Online (QBO) OAuth 2.0 refresh token to restore or maintain integration between the two systems. It outlines the required setup within the Intuit Developer Portal, including obtaining the Client ID, Client Secret, Realm ID, and refresh token, and details where to enter the new token in Elite under Accounting Configuration.

Setting Up Intuit to Allow Oauth 2.0

This process is required for Intuit to connect with the Point of Rental. If it is not completed, the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Integration will not work.

 

  1. In your browser, navigate to https://developer.intuit.com/app/developer/homepage.

       

  2. Click Sign In in the upper right corner. Use the same credentials as your QBO account to sign in. 

  3. Intuit has added a new pop-up requiring you to accept the Intuit Developer Terms of Service. Check the box and then Submit.

     

  4. Add your company data, click Next, and then Close.


     

  5. Select My Hub, and then select Playground. 


     

  6. Select your workspace (sample or your name) and then select your applicable Production App from the Select App dropdown.

     
     

  7.  Your Client ID and Client Secret will be here. Scroll down under the OAuth Settings, select the top box for "com.intuit.quickbooks.accounting" Scope and Click Get authorization code.

  8. On the OAuth screen you will see your Realm ID, click Get tokens.

  9. Scroll down to Step 4. Your Refresh token will be listed here.

Enter the new refresh token in Point of Rental Elite

  1. From Elite, go to the Configuration Gear > Core Options > App Configuration > Accounting Configuration > Account Numbers and log in to store 1.

     

  2. Under the Miscellaneous Section of Accounting Numbers, verify you are still set to API – QuickBooks Online. 


     

  3. Once that is selected, click Settings, and a new window will appear. Enter the new refresh token and click OK.

     

  4. Your integration should now be restored. In your accounting export queue, you will need to reset for export any transactions in the Error status.
