Price Level Discounts
Overview: There are plenty of ways Point of Rental gives you to give away your income. They are all broken up into sections below.
Price Level a B and C.
Each item record has a field for price level A B and C. Traditionally they have been used for three different levels of discounts. However, difficult customers may give the incentive to be charged more. Below is an item record with three different percentages in those fields. By putting over 100% in price level A, any customer assigned to that price level will be charged extra. B and C are both under 100% which means any customer assigned to those will receive a discount.
*If you want every item to have the same discount structure i.e. the one below, a database mass change can be done to set them all that way. It is not necessary to do it manually to each item.
Assigning a Customer or Contract
Under the pricing tab of the customer record they can be assigned any of the three levels.
You can also assign Job Sites to these price levels under File Maintenance, And contracts to these levels under the information tab in the Contract Processing Screen.
Setting Special Rates
The price of an item can be changed at any time by double clicking on it and putting in a new price. However, as soon as that contract is closed at a different than expected time or the date range is changed, the price of the item reverts to what it is in the item record. By right clicking the line item, however, and selecting “Set Special Rate” you can enter new rates that will stay with that contract, even if it is continued or cloned. The special rates will show in bold on your screen.
.
Setting Special Pricing
1. In an item record in File Maintenance, click on Tools>Set Special Rates
2. Click Add. Choose your “Special Rate For:” option and enter in your new prices, discount amount, or discount percentage.
• Setting Special Rate by Individual – Select this and the customer selection screen will pop up and you can select a customer that gets a special rate for this item every time. If you want the discount to last forever, make sure the End Date at the bottom is clear.
• Setting Special Rates by Pricing Type – You can create pricing types through Configuration>Customer Configurations>Customer Pricing Types. Select this option and all your pricing types you have created will pop up and you can click on the one you want. You assign customers to these pricing types through the customer record in File Maintenance. An example would be to have a Catering customer pricing type and set special rates for all your chafing dishes and assign them to the Catering pricing type. If you want this discount to last forever, make sure the End Date at the bottom is clear.
• Setting Special Rate by Store – Let’s say one of your general rental stores is very close to another business that specializes in lawn care equipment and some of their items are cheaper to rent than yours. You could take your items such as your lawn mowers and trimmers and set a special rate for that store. That way you can still have global headers and transfer inventory.
• Setting Special Rates by Jobsite – This can be useful if there is a new hospital being built or something else that has multiple competing companies bidding. You can set a special rate for that jobsite to be more competitive.
Setting Daily Pricing
This can have used for when you have an item or items (such as inflatable’s) that are in high demand on weekends but are relatively idle during weekdays.
1. Go into an item record in File Maintenance, click on Tools>Set Daily Pricing
2. Click on a day of the week you want to change your prices.
3. Here you can enter in your different rates, discount percentage and expiration date. If you want it to be permanent leave the field clear.
From the contract
1. Add item to the contract. – you will see in the Total Price the addition of the discount has been added to the Rental Price.
100% Discounts – When you change the discount from 100% to 10% it will automatically recalculate what the correct current price of the item is and then give 10% off.
