FAQ
What Is an L-Ticket?
An L-Ticket (Logistics Ticket) is a sub-ticket created from an existing contract to manage the delivery or pickup of part of an order separately.
-
Coordinate multiple deliveries or pickups for a single contract.
-
Split an order across multiple trucks.
-
Schedule later pickups or customer will-calls.
-
Move equipment between stores for repairs or transfers.
| ℹ️ L-Tickets do not affect contract totals or inventory availability. These remain linked to the parent contract. |
When to Create an L-Ticket
Use an L-Ticket when you need to coordinate logistics without modifying billing or contract terms.
| Use Case | Recommended Action |
|---|---|
| Partial delivery or return | Create an L-Ticket to manage one route or pickup. |
| Multi-truck delivery | Create separate L-Tickets for each truck. |
| Customer will-call | Move those line items to a separate L-Ticket. |
| Store transfer or repair movement | Use an L-Ticket to track movement without overbooking. |
Avoid creating an L-Ticket when:
-
Adjusting rates or quantities (use a contract edit).
-
Trying to free up inventory (use a contract closeout or return).
Create an L-Ticket from a Contract
-
You can create a logistic ticket when you create a new reservation contract or modify an existing one. Save the contract, and the menu screen below will appear. Select Logistics Tickets.
(This option appears only after saving the contract.)
-
The screen splits into two panels:
-
Left panel: Contract items.
-
Right panel: L-Ticket creation view.
-
-
Select Out for a delivery or In for a pickup. Important! If Delivery/Pickup is not checked in the contract, the L-Ticket will not appear in the Dispatch Center.
-
Check the box next to each item you want to move and click the >>> arrows.
Note! You cannot move over header records to a logistics ticket.-
Items remain on the parent contract for billing.
-
The copied items appear on the L-Ticket for dispatch.
-
-
When prompted, enter a descriptive name (e.g., “ACME Festival Pickup”).
-
Confirm delivery date and time (they default from the parent contract).
-
Add any comments or delivery/pickup notes.
-
Click Save.
After saving:
-
The dispatcher will see both the parent contract and the new L-Ticket in their daily routes
-
The line items that have been moved will no longer display on the parent ticket for operational purposes.
Create an L-Ticket from the Dispatch Center
You can also create an L Ticket directly from within the Dispatch Center.
This is useful when:
-
You’re scheduling an additional stop (e.g., lunch break, vendor pickup, or secondary store delivery).
-
You need to record a route event not tied to a customer transaction.
| ℹ️ L Tickets created from Dispatch Center behave the same as those created from a contract. They will appear in the same route view and share parent contract references. |
How to Create a L-Ticket from a Contract in the Dispatch Center
-
In Dispatch Center, right-click on a contract and select "Edit Stop Details".
-
Press "Create Full L-Ticket".
ℹ️ Quick L-tickets: These are for rapid logistics needs and do not allow for the splitting or detailed customization of contract items. They are simpler and designed for quick assignments within the Dispatch Center. -

Closing L-Tickets
When a contract is closed, any associated L-ticket (Logistics ticket) will also close automatically. If an outstanding L-ticket is completed after the contract has already been closed, the ticket’s status generally follows the contract’s status, meaning it gets closed as well. Completing an L ticket after contract closure does not trigger further actions- the closure of the contract ends the process for the L-ticket, and there is no additional effect.
View L-Tickets
-
In the contract under Reports > Related Contracts.
-
In the Dispatch Center on the delivery or pickup date.
Inventory and Billing Behavior
| Aspect | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Inventory Availability | Controlled by the parent contract, not the L-Ticket. |
| Billing | All charges remain with the parent contract. L-Tickets do not affect totals. |
| Delivery/Pickup Dates | Default from parent but can be edited. |
| Dispatch Load Weight | If you use weight tracking, move all items to L-Tickets to avoid showing “overweight” contracts. |
Transfer Items Using L-Tickets
L-Tickets can also be used to transfer repaired or broken items between stores without overbooking.
-
Open the repair contract.
-
Create an L-Ticket for the transfer.
-
The item and repair record move to the receiving store upon closure.
-
Close the L-Ticket at the destination branch once received.
Troubleshoot Common L-Ticket Issues
| Issue | Likely Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| L-Ticket doesn’t appear in Dispatch Center | Delivery/Pickup not checked | Edit L-Ticket → Check the Delivery/Pickup box |
| L-Ticket stays open | Items still marked “Out” | Ensure all items are returned, then re-save |
| Duplicate L-Ticket created | Two users edited the same contract simultaneously | Delete the duplicate and keep the latest |
| Missing from reports | Filters exclude related contracts | Run All Contracts or include Related in the report filter |
Best Practices
-
Naming Convention: Include event or route names (e.g., “Festival Setup – Truck 2”).
-
Workflow Review: Verify each L-Ticket is closed before invoicing.
-
Training Tip: Have dispatchers review related contracts on a weekly basis to ensure all logistics tasks are completed.
-
Reporting: Use the “Related Contracts” report for an overview of open/closed L-Tickets.
