Edit Tax Jurisdiction
How to get there: Program Menu > Configuration > Accounting Configuration > Tax Tables
Overview: How to change sales tax percentages. The following will guide you through the necessary steps. Point-of-Rental allows sales tax changes to be entered ahead of the scheduled date. This is especially useful for those who must comply with destination-based sales tax or more than one sales tax jurisdiction. When made ahead of time future reservations will use the new tax rate. Of course, you can wait until the day the sales tax change takes effect to update your system.
Updating on the day the sales tax change takes effect.
1. From the Program Main Menu, go to #9 Configuration >Accounting Configurations > Tax Tables.
2. From the list right click on the tax jurisdiction that you want to change. You will see the following options
a. Edit Tax Jurisdiction
b. Tax Rate Change
c. Make Inactive
d. Export to Spreadsheet
By selecting Edit Tax Jurisdiction, you can make the following changes in the tax record:
(Description, Begin Date, End Date, Max Tax Amt, Tax Coding, Make Inactive, Replacement Jurisdiction and Allocate Jurisdiction)
*Note: If you want to change the tax rate, you would need to create a new tax jurisdiction and make the old one inactive.
You can add County and City tax to the jurisdiction. (It must equal the total percentage of the Rental, Sale, Damage Waiver).
Ex. Under Tier one tax at the bottom If I enter County tax of 6.5% and City Tax of 1.5%, the total equals the Tier one tax of 8%.
