Set Up Cloud Bridge and Print from Elite in AWS
Learn how to install and configure Cloud Bridge to print to local or remote printers in an AWS-hosted Elite environment. This setup eliminates the need for VPNs and gives you control over your print workflow.
ℹ️ This service is only available for Elite AWS Windows users.
Elite Cloud users can manage their local printers and access those printers using Point of Rental’s Cloud Bridge feature. This is an application installed on a local machine in each store/location to facilitate printing from the Elite application. With Cloud Print, VPNs are no longer required for printing.
Please note: In each physical location (home office, store, remote shop, etc.), select a single host machine/terminal that will remain on at all times. If the machine loses power, print jobs will continue to be accepted and queued, but will not physically print until the machine is running again.

More Information / FAQ
Installing Printers on a Local Print Machine
Printers must be installed on the local printer machine before they can be used with Cloud Bridge. This includes printers with single trays and multiple trays, installed using Windows printer installation functionality.
Configuring Printers with Multiple Trays
If a printer has more than one tray with a mix of plain and contract paper, configure each tray as a separate printer in Windows. After creating a Windows printer for each tray, open the printer properties and set the appropriate tray defaults (e.g., Tray 1, Tray 2, etc.).
- Browse to Advanced → Printing Defaults to set tray defaults.
Elite Cloud Security Settings
Two security options control the ability to view, add, or edit the Cloud Bridge service:
- View: Located in the Left Menu section of Security.
- Add/Edit: Located in the Configuration section of Security.
These permissions allow administrators to control who can access and configure Cloud Bridge features in Elite Cloud.
Download and Install Cloud Bridge
- Go to porhelp.com.
- Scroll down to the Utilities section.
- Click Cloud Bridge to download the installer.
- Run the installer.
- You must have administrative rights on the terminal.
- Approve installation when prompted (you may receive a warning about the publisher).
- The installer will open a browser to the Cloud Print Admin Portal: https://prod-cloud-print-ui.rentamation.com/customer/login. Bookmark this page for easy future access.
- Log in using your SSO credentials (the same login you use for Elite). If you cannot log in, first try logging into Elite to verify your credentials.
Register the Terminal (Print Machine)
- Select your organization from the dropdown. Most users will only see one option here.
- Enter a machine name that reflects the location (e.g., Store-Front-Terminal).
- Enter the store name and address.
- (Optional) Add a contact name, phone number, or notes.
- Click Register Machine.
- Click Complete to finish registration.
- Note: Printer detection may take several minutes after registration.
Once registered, the store will be listed under your organization in the Cloud Bridge admin panel. Within a print machine, you can view/edit its information, see installed printers, and view the print jobs queue. A print machine's visibility can be toggled on or off.
Configure Printers and Visibility
- Go to the Printers tab in Cloud Bridge.
- Wait for all locally installed printers to populate. As you install or uninstall printers on the print machine, they will automatically appear or be removed from the list.
- Toggle off visibility for non-physical printers (e.g., Microsoft Print to PDF, Fax, OneNote).
- (Optional) Add an alias to rename the printer as it appears in Elite.
- (Optional) Add a description to help identify each printer.
Print Jobs
In the Print Jobs tab, you can view a list of jobs for a specific printer.
Printer Page Sizes
Displays printer settings as configured in Windows (informational only).
Set Printer Access in Elite
Cloud printers can be assigned in User Profiles to set default printers.
User-Level Setup
Go to Left Menu → User Tools → Operator Information → Print Setup. Select your default printer from the list. Cloud printers are labeled with (Cloud).
Admin Setup for All Users
Go to Config Gear (top right) → Security → User Profiles. Choose a profile and assign default printers.
Use Cloud Printers in Elite
Once setup is complete, printers connected via Cloud Bridge will show up in Elite with a (Cloud) suffix. These printers are available anywhere printing is enabled in Elite.
Troubleshoot Cloud Bridge
| Issue | Resolution |
|---|---|
| Printers not showing in Cloud Bridge | Restart the PORCloudPrint service on the local machine, wait a few minutes, and confirm the terminal is powered on and printers are installed. |
| Can’t log in to Cloud Bridge | Use the customer SSO login. Try logging in to Elite to validate credentials. |
| Registration fails with "Unknown Error" | Close Cloud Print, then run this command in an elevated Command Prompt (include the double quotes): "C:\\Program Files\\Point of Rental Software\\Por.CloudPrint.Installer\\Por.CloudPrint.Windows.Service.exe" --register |
| Duplicate printers appear | Only install Cloud Bridge on one terminal per store. Disable duplicates in Cloud Bridge. |
| Print speed issues | Cloud Bridge is not designed to improve speed, though some users report minor improvements. |
| Host terminal turned off / power outage | Restart the host terminal once power is restored. Printing will resume once Cloud Bridge is running again. |
| Retiring or replacing terminals | Disable visibility of the old terminal. Reinstall and register Cloud Bridge on the new terminal. |
Understand Cloud Bridge Limitations
- Windows only — no Mac support.
- PDF/virtual printers are not supported.
- Crystal Reports printing requires export to Adobe PDF for range printing.
- Each company must have its own terminal; no multi-company support on a single terminal.
- If a terminal is powered off, printers become unavailable in Elite.
Follow Best Practices for Setup
- Use the same printer name when replacing a failed printer (reduces reconfiguration needs in Elite).
- On new terminals, reinstall printers with the same names and register with the same machine name.
- Ensure terminals are connected to backup power during outages.
- New printers are visible by default in Elite, but may take several minutes to appear.
Uninstall Cloud Bridge
- On the terminal, go to Control Panel → Programs and Features.
- Find Por.CloudPrint.Installer, right-click, and choose Uninstall.
- Log in to the Cloud Bridge Admin site.
- Toggle off visibility for the removed terminal.
