Driver's License Scanners With Cloud Bridge
| ℹ️ This feature is available in Elite versions 2026.02 and above. |
Driver's license scanners can now be set up through Cloud Bridge. This both liberates the need for a VPN for scanner functionality and allows them to work seamlessly with our cloud-hosted file repositories.

Cloud Bridge Setup
Cloud Bridge must be installed on one local terminal per location. It can be downloaded from porhelp.com by scrolling down to the Utilities section. Please refer to the following document for setup steps for Cloud Bridge: Set Up Cloud Bridge and Print from Elite in AWS.
Once Cloud Bridge is installed, the checklist below will outline how to set up Driver’s license scanners through Cloud Bridge.
Prerequisites
-
Local machine admin access (installer requires admin password for your Windows account).
-
Cloud Bridge installer (porhelp.com).
-
SSO Credentials for Elite login
-
File Management bucket and target folder created in Stored Files Explorer (folder must exist).
-
Elite user access to update operator print settings.
DL Scanner Setup Steps
-
Install Cloud Bridge service. For more information, see the article Setup Cloud Bridge and Print from AWS in File.
-
This is referred to in the Cloud Bridge installation documentation above
-
Run the installer as admin on the machine that will host the file-push service.
-
Confirm the Cloud Bridge/Cloud Print Windows service is running.
-
-
Create a local folder for scanner output
-
This will be done in your local file explorer
-
On the local machine where Cloud Bridge is installed create a folder (Ex. C:\POR\Pictures\).
-
Share the folder if there are additional PCs with scanners connected. You will change those PC's to point to the Cloud Bridge host machine.
-
-
Remap dl scanner PC. For more information on how to perform this step, see the article Set Up IDScan ParseLink (QS2000) for Point of Rental.
-
Change the save path for the image and txt file to be the folder path that you created ( C:\POR\Pictures\)
-
-
Create a target folder (This Is Done in File Management from the Left menu of the Elite browser). For more information on how to perform this step, see the article File Management Overview in Elite.
-
In File Management, create the folder and label it OCR. This must exist before mapping.
-
-
Configure File Push Directory Map (This will be done in Cloud Bridge). For more information on how to complete this step, see the article Uploading Files to AWS POR Cloud (Cloud Bridge File Push).
-
Log in to Cloud Bridge with SSO credentials
-
Open the print machine and add a File Push Directory Map (+):
-
Name: descriptive (e.g., DL Scanners)
-
Local directory: full path on the Cloud Bridge machine (e.g., C:\POR\Pictures)
-
File Management directory: the existing folder in Store Files Explorer (OCR)
-
-
Save.
-
-
Configure Elite operator settings. For more information on how to perform this step, see the article Set Up IDScan ParseLink (QS2000) for Point of Rental.
-
In Elite: User Tools → Operator Information → Print Setup → Advanced.
-
Set Scan File and OCR File to the relative path used (do NOT include the File Management root). Example: OCR\pc1.jpeg.
-
Elite will check File Management for that path first; if it's missing, it will fall back to the local path.
-
Test (verify flow)
-
Scan an image from the scanner to the configured local folder.
-
Confirm Cloud Bridge service detects and pushes the file to File Management (check File Push Jobs in Cloud Print).
-
Confirm that Elite consumes the file (image/TXT) and either removes it from the OCR folder or imports the data.
Essential Notes & Troubleshooting
-
The File Management folder must exist before mapping, or pushes will not complete.
-
The file watcher only detects changes while the Windows service is running. Files added while the service is stopped may not be detected unless re-added or moved.
-
Filenames overwrite previous copies (e.g., pc1.jpeg will be replaced by the newest pc1.jpeg).
-
SQS/queue retention is time-limited; very long offline periods may drop messages.
-
Installer requires admin password — open a support ticket if you cannot install locally.
-
If File Push Jobs show “Sent to service” but not “Sent directory”, check that the File Management folder exists and the File Push Queue URL was generated.
