Transferring Sale Items to Rental Inventory

You can quickly transfer items from your sales inventory to your rental inventory. This feature is particularly useful when you're running low on stock or completely out of certain items that need to be replenished from your sales inventory.

 ℹ️ Important!

You must have a store manager password or above to transfer sales inventory to rental inventory.

Tranfer Process

The security option is held under the Item Record section of security.

  1. Open the Item record. Follow the below path for your product.
Expert: Program Menu > File Maintenance > Item File
Elite: Configuration gear > File Maintenance (under Core Options) > Item File

  2. From the file record, select Functions, then Transfer Sales Item to Rental.

  3. You'll receive a prompt to confirm whether you want to proceed with transferring the item. Select Yes, to continue.

  4. You'll be prompted to create a new transfer record.

    1. Selecting Yes will allow you to transfer the sale item into the rental item by creating a new one, and you'll be able to change the key name and other information. Yes, should only be selected for new items not already created in the inventory.
    2. Select No if the item has already been created in your rental inventory. This will allow you to add inventory to the existing record.

  5. If you selected no, the Inventory Selection screen will appear, where you can select the rental inventory you will transfer the item into.

  6. Once selected, you will be asked to enter a quantity amount to transfer.

  7. If the item has a header record, then the serialized record will automatically be created. Point of Rental will create the next serialized record in the sequence.

    * Purchase details, model year, warranty information, and home and current location will pull over to the rental item that was transferred.

*Last purchase price and purchase date will transfer to the rental item if the item is a bulk item.

In the case of serialized sales items, the user may wish to retain the sales item’s original item number/key when it is transferred to rental.

  • The Configurations option must be enabled to use the item’s number as its key.
  • The item number of the rental header to which the sales item is to be transferred must also be entered in the related header field of the options field of the sales item.
  • When the sales item is transferred to the rental, the original item number/key will be carried forward to the rental item, and what would have been the rental item’s number is assigned to the old sales item.
