eCommerce | Excluding Items & Categories

Categories

 

You will most likely find categories and items that you do not want to see listed on the site. Categories to exclude from the site may include Parts, Supplies, Retail Items, Re-rent Items, etc.  

 

To Exclude Categories
 

In POR, go to Store Configuration Menu -> Other Updates
 

1. Select Update Website - click ok on any pop-up messages you see.

 

2. Click the “Configuration button.

 

3. Click the “2. Select Web Categories” button.
 

a. At this point, you’ll see a new window with two lists of categories. Those which are currently uploading to the website are shown on the left. Those which are currently excluded from the website are shown on the right.

b. From the list of categories displayed on the left, click the check box for those you’d like to EXCLUDE from the website.

c. When finished, click on the “Apply Selections” button at the top of the window.
 

Note: If the categories you selected to exclude are now showing in the list on the right side or not.
 

d. Next click on the “Commit Changes” button at the top of the window.
 

4. Click the “6. Upload to Website” button to upload your category exclusions to the website.

5. If you noted in step 3d) above that the categories you selected did NOT move to the right side of the window, you’ll need to run the Update Website process again. But this time, you can run it in Auto mode, by clicking on the “Update Site Data” button instead of the “Configuration” button. This is an intermittent bug in POR, where the process doesn’t exclude the categories until you run the update a second time.

 

To Add Categories Back to the Website

 

Follow steps 1-3 as above, except in step 3b), you’ll select categories on the right side of the window, click the “Apply Selections” button, and make sure they show in the list on the left side of the window.  Then continue with steps 3c)-5).

 

Items

 

Items can include internal administrative items such as Gift Certificates, NSF Fees, Delivery Charges, etc., items like small consumable items that you’ve decided not to clutter up your website with or items you no longer stock/rent.

 

To Exclude Items
 

  • File Maintenance

    • Item File

      • Item Record Detail – Options Tab

        1. Click the checkbox for hide on website

 

For your change(s) to be uploaded to the site itself, you must Update Website from your POR Configuration Menu. Or, you can wait until the nightly update runs.

 
 

Items excluded by default

 

An item will not upload to the website if:
 

  • It does not have a quantity.
     

  • It does not have a rental rate.
     

  • It is not assigned to a category.
     

  • It is checked “hide on website” in the Options tab.
     

  • It is checked "inactive" in the Options tab.
     

  • It’s a serialized item record with a value in the Header field, but that header record does not exist.
     

  • The Category the item is assigned to isn’t assigned to one of the Divisions used to show the catalogs on the website.
     

  • The Category the item is assigned to is excluded from the website.
