You may update and manage the slideshow images on your website by creating your own images and placing them directly on your POR Server.
Topics in this article include:
- Step 1: Determine how many slideshow images you’d like on your home page
- Step 2: Create your slideshow image files
- Step 3: Copy your JPG image files to your POR server
- Step 4: Update the website
- Step 5: Notify the Web Design Team
Step 1: Determine how many slideshow images you’d like on your home page
The slideshow will be set up to show a specific number of images; we suggest 3-5 images, but some stores may want more. Keep in mind that the number of slideshow images you have can impact your homepage performance.
You must always keep this specific number of images in your folder, or the slideshow will not function correctly. If you want to increase or decrease the number of images in your slideshow, contact the Web Design Team for assistance.
Step 2: Create your slideshow image files
-
The images must be .jpg files
-
The dimensions for your site will vary; the Web Team will tell you the specific size for your website.
-
The names of the files must stay consistent (i.e. slide-1.jpg, slide-2.jpg, slide-3.jpg, etc.)
Step 3: Copy your JPG image files to your POR server
-
Copy the JPG image files into C:/POR/WEBCONTENT/site001/Gallery/WebPhoto/Slideshow
-
Note About the Folders:
-
Replace C:/ with whichever drive your POR system is installed under, e.g. D:/, etc.
-
If you have more than one integrated website, replace /site002 with the correct site #, e.g. /site002. You can usually tell by looking in the /sitexxx folders in your /webcontent folder – the one you want will already have a /gallery folder in it. Ask the POR Web Design Team if you’re unsure which folder is the correct one.
-
If you do not see the subfolder /WebPhoto, create it and the other subfolder /slideshow.
-
-
Step 4: Update the website
You may run the Update Website process in POR for the files to upload immediately, or you may wait for your automatic nightly website update to upload your images from your POR server to your website.
Step 5: Notify the Web Design Team
-
You must notify the Web Design Team that you have completed Step #4 so that the code on your website can be changed to show your uploaded files.
-
Don’t skip this step!!
