Items Specs for Integrated POR Websites

Overview: When shopping online nothing can be more frustrating than reading an inaccurate, inadequate, or overly-detailed description of an item. This document will cover some of the dos and don’ts of creating an appealing item description.

Avoid cutting & pasting long specs from manufacturers  – instead, try to include useful information that will help your online customers, e.g. dimensions, weight, power spec, restrictions of use, etc.

When you get repeated phone calls/email messages from customers asking the same questions about an item, don’t forget to enter that information into the Spec field!

Instead of “UPPER CASE”, use “Sentence case” throughout all specs to keep your contracts and website looking more professional.

Example - instead of:

ENGINE FUEL - DIESEL

HORSEPOWER - 35.5 HP

OPERATING CAPACITY (SAE) -1000 LBS

TIPPING LOAD - 2002 LBS

OPERATING WEIGHT - 4091 LBS

TRAVEL SPEED - 6.4 MPH

Type your spec as:

Engine Fuel - Diesel

Horsepower - 35.5 HP

Rated Operating Capacity (SAE) -1000 lbs

Tipping Load - 2002 lbs

Operating Weight - 4091 lbs

Travel Speed - 6.4h mp

Enter each line without a preceding dash or bullet; your integrated website will automatically add bullets for formatting purposes.

Example - instead of:

- Engine Fuel – Diesel

- Horsepower - 35.5 HP

Type your spec as:

Engine Fuel – Diesel

Horsepower - 35.5 HP

To include information in the Specs but prevent them from showing on the website enter a preceding “~” for each line.

Example:

Engine Fuel - Diesel

Horsepower - 35.5 HP

~ change oil on 6/3/12

Weight – 224lbs

Will display on your website as:

Engine Fuel - Diesel

Horsepower - 35.5 HP

Weight – 224lbs
