Sending a QuikLink via Text (Twilio)

ℹ️ This feature is only available in Elite versions 2025.11 and above.

ℹ️ To use this feature, you must have a Twilio account configured in Elite. See the article Set Up Twilio SMS Integration in Elite to learn more.

Once Twilio is set up in Point of Rental, you can send customers a text message containing a secure link to their contract, reservation, quote, or work order. This link, also called a QuikLink, allows your customer to view or sign their document directly from their phone without an email attachment. For more information on QuikLinks see the article QuikLink Overview (Elite Only).

Message Template Setup

Before you can send a text through Elite, you have to set up a message. You can set up messages for different contract statuses. For example, reservations or closed contracts.

  1. Go to the Gear icon

  2. Under Core Options, select App Configuration> System Configurations

  3. Select Email Letters. You will need the appropriate security access to make these changes.

  4. Find the message to update or press Add.

  5. Check the "Text QuikLink" box.

    • For example,

      • A standard message might read: "Please click the link to view your contract."

      • Or a more personalized version: "Hi, here is your contract from LoneStar Outdoor Power Equipment. Please review at your convenience."

  6. Press Ok to save. When saved, this message becomes the default text for QuikLinks for the selected contract status.

ℹ️ Unlike email, text messaging does not allow you to select from multiple templates when sending. Instead, the system automatically applies the default message and appends the QuikLink to it. For this reason, it is important to ensure your message is written clearly and appropriately during setup.

How it Works

  1. To send an SMS Quiklink via Twilio, choose to print the contract by going through Modify or by right-clicking on it in Day at a Glance, Customer Dashboard, etc. From this print screen, select the radio button for ‘Text Quiklink’ and then ‘Print’.

  2. A new window will appear.

    1. If your customer has an existing contact with a mobile number, you can select it from the contact dropdown. If no contact appears, you can manually enter a mobile number in the mobile field.

    2. You can also type a message that will be sent along with the message you set up in the previous section. Please note, there is no need to include the link in your message, as the system will automatically generate and append the Quick Link when the text is sent.

    3. If enabled, the option to include an electronic signature lets the customer review and sign the document directly on their device.

    4. If you need an eSign signature, check the box.

  3. Once ready, click Send to deliver the message.

What Your Customer Receives

  1. Your customer will receive a text message containing your message along with a clickable link.

  2. When the link is opened, your customer is taken to a secure page where they can view the document, review the details, and complete any required actions, such as signing. This experience is similar to email QuikLinks, but optimized for mobile use through text messaging.
